Seevic Storm sports academies have achieved brilliant results, yet again, to ensure another successful year.
Celebrations have already started as Seevic Storm begin to qualify for the AoC Sport National Finals taking place at Nottingham University in April.
With a combined number of over 60 students qualifying, this is an exciting time for the college as the following teams and individuals head to the National Finals:Women’s Football Academy
- Netball Academy
- Men’s Rugby Academy
- Women’s Basketball Academy
- Squash – Harry Kitchens
- Table Tennis – Justin Jeffery
- Cross-Country – Sinead Clarke
Craig Davidson, Head of Sport, said: “The AoC Sport Regional Qualifying has been an amazing effort from the Seevic Storm Sports Academies. To have this amount of students heading to the final is incredible and we are in the running to have the highest amount of competitors across England and Wales!
“Last year we picked up a gold medal in the Men’s Rugby and silver in the Women’s Football, so we’ll be looking to bring home medals again this year.”
“I am delighted for the girls to have won the East region title for Football two years running and taking ourselves to the national finals where we will try and better our silver medal from last year.
“The football played at times was very skilful and to win the final 7-0 was a testament to hard work and the quality of players we have here in our football academy.”
Michelle Young, 17, who is currently studying BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport, played in the midfield position in the tournament and said: “there was a great atmosphere on the day which really motivated us throughout the tournament.
“The whole team worked really hard and it is great that it has paid off – we all felt as a team that we deserved to win and we did.
“I cannot wait for the finals; it is going to be a fantastic opportunity and hopefully another day of success.”
The Women’s Football Academy, for a second year running, did not concede a goal throughout the whole tournament and scored a massive 45 goals.
As well as the success of the AoC qualifiers Seevic is also celebrating the Netball Academy progressing to the Regional Finals of the Essex Schools Champions and the Netball and Rugby Academy being unbeaten in the AoC Sport Premier League so far.
When reflecting on the months of success Craig added: “We have had another fantastic start to the year with our student-athletes excelling yet again at the highest level.
“To have so many students qualify for the AoC Sport National Finals is a testament to the strength of our provision.”
