Women’s Football score the chance to compete in Baltimore

This week sees the Seevic Storm Women’s Football Academy travel across the world to take part in a national competition.
The girls will compete in a 10 day football tour in Baltimore, USA. During this adventure the students will compete against a variety of high profile colleges and Universities such as the University of Maryland Baltimore.
This is a great opportunity the girls who are looking for scholarships to the USA with a number of scouts attending the games and giving them the chance to understand the level required from them.
Goalkeeper Jamie-Lee Bamford, 17, who studies A-Level Biology, English Language and Physical Education, is one of the many girls looking to make some contact whilst in America to help gain a scholarship to study in the USA.
Jamie-Lee said: “I am really excited to go out to America, it is a great opportunity and hopefully I will be scouted for a scholarship to one of the colleges.
“It will be nice to meet the American football teams to see what their training is like and what standard they play at.”
Craig Davidson, Head of Sport and the Womens Football Academy Head Coach, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity and experience for the girls and will give us the chance to test ourselves against some high profile opposition.
A number of girls are looking to gain US scholarships and this will hopefully be the springboard for them to make their dreams a reality.”
Another student looking to gain a scholarship programme out in America is Level 3 BTEC Sport and Exercise Science student, Grace Hill, 16.
She said: “The standards of football in America are much higher and the games are a lot more intense.
“I am hoping to develop my playing skills as well as my knowledge of the game whilst in America. I also think it will help us to come closer as a team which will help us for the rest of the season.”
The Seevic Storm Womens Academy has had a great year so far with this experience coming just before the AoC Sport National Finals at Nottingham University.
