Seevic star is crowned ABL Player of the Week

Shaquille Mathurin, 17, was voted ABL Player of the Week after helping Seevic College win their first game of the season.
The college, based in Runnymede Chase, Benfleet, played the College of West Anglia where they won the game 72-69, thanks to Shaquille scoring a massive 25 points for the team.
The player of the week impressed the coaches as he scored eight out of 12 shots.
Mathurin, who plays in the guard position, has been playing basketball since secondary school and has been a vital part of the Seevic Storm programme over the past two years.
Ross Norfolk, Head Basketball Coach at Seevic, said: “Shaq has shown an industrious approach to his development and it was demonstrated in this game.
“His positive leadership during the game really helped rally the team. Making big plays in transition contributed to the team’s first win of the season.
“I am delighted for Shaq and I look forward to seeing him reach his potential.”
Shaquille who is studying A-Level Business, Government & Politics and History said: “The new coach has brought in a great system and that has helped me to play at a high level, which I aim to continue.”
