Pancake Pantry promises to be flippin’ great for visitors to Castle Point Show

Seevic College will be giving away 1,000 freshly-made pancakes to visitors at the Castle Point Show on Sunday 5 July.
Seevic’s Executive Head Chef Justin Arnold will be running a ‘Pancake Pantry’ at the event, held at Waterside Farm Showground, Somnes Avenue, Canvey, between 11am and 4pm.
The sizzling spectacular will see Mr Arnold flip pancakes at a rate of three per minute all day – or until ingredients run out!
The free pancakes – which will be limited to one per person – will be cooked to order with a choice of sauce: lemon, chocolate, fresh strawberry, fresh raspberry, maple syrup or banoffee.
The purpose of the Pancake Pantry is to help raise awareness of Seevic College’s wide range of free community learning events taking place this summer.
Events on offer to the public free of charge include the College’s popular Bake Offs, which provide youngsters and parents with the opportunity to learn how to bake a range of wonderful treats in the kitchen.
Mr Arnold said: “I expect the Pancake Pantry to get through 8,300 grams of plain flour, 24,900 ml of semi-skimmed milk and 166 medium hens eggs. This is definitely a first for Seevic College – and for Castle Point too as far as I am aware. I can’t wait to start flipping on the day!

Seevic College’s community learning events are completely free. They provide individuals with the opportunity to try new things and gain skills within a fun, friendly and relaxed environment.
Bake Offs take place at Seevic College between 9.30am – 3.30pm on 27-31 July and 3, 5, 6 and 7 August.
One Bake Off session, 4 August, is already fully booked and all other events are expected to attract high demand. Interested parties are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment.
The minimum age to attend an event is four years, with an adult aged 19 or over also in attendance.

The Bake Off events form part of the College’s ‘Summer Holiday Survival Kit’ series of free activities for parents and young children throughout July and August.
Other events, operated in partnership with local charity Trust Links, include: Family Grow Your Own Veg, Outdoor Crafts, Family Craft Fun Days and Archaeology Family Day.
The College is also offering free events for adults only during the summer including: DIY & Decorating, Bricklaying, Drama Skills, Garden Design for Beginners, How to Start Your Own Business, Understanding Your Child’s Behaviour, Social Media for Parents and Parent Stress Buster.
