Record-breaking A-Level results for Seevic College students

Results -day -14-girlStudents at Seevic College have achieved the College’s best ever A-Level pass rate.

This was just one of a number of record-breaking results for the College following a range of new strategies introduced by Principal Nick Spenceley – including the introduction of a learning values contract for students and parents.   

Seevic College’s A-Level class of 2014 achieved: 

  • Best ever A2 pass rate – 98%
  • Best ever AS results – well above the national average
  • 100% pass rate on 38 AS and A2 courses
  • Pass rates for all AS Science subjects above the national average
  • A* - B Grades 10% above the national average in 12 subjects: AS English Language & Literature, AS Biology, AS Physics, AS French, AS Communication & Culture, AS Dance, AS Fine Art, AS & A2 Photography, AS & A2 Applied Science and A2 Geology.

Principal Nick Spenceley said: “I would like to thank all students and staff at the College who have played their part in a year of hard work and fantastic success at Seevic. I’m incredibly pleased that the measures introduced since I arrived at the College in January 2013 have seen such a significant impact at the end of my first full year as Principal.

18-year-old Lauren Plumley, who previously attended The Appleton School, achieved Grade A in Law, Grade A In Psychology and Grade B in Maths. 

She said: "My Tutors at the College have helped me to achieve my best. Getting my results today is my favourite memory of my time at Seevic. The whole College experience has been helpful and rewarding."

Lauren now plans to study Law at The University of Warwick.

18-year-old Maria Edwards, who previously attended The Deanes School, achieved Grade A in History, Grade A in Psychology and Grade B in English Literature. 

She said: "My experience at Seevic has been so worthwhile and successful. I've gained a lot of independence. My Tutors gave me the extra support I needed to achieve my grades."

Maria now plans to study History at Nottingham University. 

Results -day -14-girl -2Seevic College offers the widest choice of A-Levels in South Essex, with over 40 subject choices.

As part of the Sixth-Form experience the College provides a full UCAS support programme, using its established links with Russell Group universities. In 2013-14 a total of 401 students at the College were offered a conditional place at their first choice university.

It's not too late to apply for courses starting this September. Enrolment takes place from 21-29 August.

In addition to A-Levels the College also offers Vocational Qualifications, Professional Qualifications, Apprenticeships, Higher Education and Adult & Community Learning.
