Both Fern and Sammy Jo study Level 2 Apprenticeships in Childcare at Seevic College, and commenced their Apprenticeships in September 2013.
Fern was nominated for Apprentice of the Year by her employer, Horndon Village Playgroup.
Pat Payne at Horndon Village Playgroup said: “Fern has become a valued member of our team. She shows excellent teamwork and initiative in all areas, and is motivated to always challenge children to do more whether in conversation or playing.”
Fern said: “The opportunity with young children attracted me to the Apprenticeship programme and it has exceeded my expectations. I’ve grown in confidence and received lots of positive feedback. I want to continue to study, and have a keen interest in children’s developmental psychology.”
Sammie Jo was nominated for Apprentice of the Year by her employer, Homestead Pre School.
Chris Rattenbury at Homestead Pre School said: “Sammy Jo is friendly, caring, adaptable and flexible. She is very popular with the children and brings lots of happiness and fun to their play, learning and development. She always brings new ideas to our Pre School, and has a very positive attitude towards her role.”
Sammy Jo said: “Since starting my Apprenticeship I’ve formed good working relationships with staff, children and parents. The positive feedback I’ve received from my Managers has made me feel genuinely appreciated at work. I’ve always wanted to work with children from all age groups, and hope to study related higher level qualifications in the future.”
The success rate of Seevic College’s Apprenticeship provision is 15% higher than the national average
The Essex Countywide Business Awards aim to raise company awareness, increase networking opportunities and improve company image and customer confidence across Essex.
Seevic College offers Apprenticeships in eight areas: AAT Accounting, Business Administration, Customer Service, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Marketing, Pharmacy and Beauty Therapy.
Apprentices study towards a relevant nationally-recognised qualification at the College one day per week, and earn a salary as an employee at a local employer four days per week.
The success rate of Seevic College’s Apprenticeship provision is 15% higher than the national average, with 87% of Apprentices successfully completing their programme of study compared to 71.9% nationally.
Nine out of ten employers who hire a Seevic College Apprentice say they would recommend hiring an Apprentice to other employers.
