Higher Education courses are usually studied at universities, but can also be studied in colleges like Seevic. Higher Education courses offered by Seevic include:

Usually, the entry requirements for studying a Higher Education course are to have previously studied A-Levels, a BTEC Level 3 Diploma or to have completed an Access to Higher Education Diploma.

Higher National Certificate (HNC)

  • Level 4 qualification
  • 1 year course
  • Combines theory and practical work, providing you with the technical skills for your chosen career. Designed in collaboration with industry and highly valued by employers due to their hands-on approach to teaching and learning.
  • Assessment takes place through assignments and practical tasks.
  • Progression options include: Higher National Diploma, entering the second year of a degree (subject to university entry requirements) or employment

HNCs offered at Seevic College:

Higher National Diploma (HND)

  • Level 5 qualification
  • 1 year course (studied after successfully completing a HNC)
  • Combines theory and practical work, providing you with the technical skills for your chosen career. Designed in collaboration with industry and highly valued by employers due to their hands-on approach to teaching and learning.
  • Assessment takes place through assignments and practical tasks.
  • Progression options include: Entering the final year of a degree (subject to university entry requirements) or employment

HNDs offered at Seevic College:

Foundation Degree

  • Level 4-5 qualification
  • Two year course
  • Combines academic study with practical training. Designed and delivered in partnership with employers, our Foundation Degree in Early Years (validated by University of Hertfordshire) is aimed at individuals working in the sector who are interested in developing their practice and becoming a positive role model for others.
  • Assessment takes place through a variety of measures including exams, practical work and on-the-job training.
  • Equivalent to the first two years of an Honours degree and provides progression to the final year of a degree.

What next?

  • Nationally, 97.5% of Foundation Degree graduates are employed or have gone on to further study within six months of completing their qualification.
  • Completing a Foundation Degree will see you earn an average salary of 13% more than those who are less qualified than you, according to government research.

Foundation Degree offered at Seevic College:

BA Honours Degree Top-Up

  • Level 6 qualification
  • 1 year course
  • Enables individuals with a Foundation Degree to enhance their professional development by ‘topping up’ to a full BA (Honours) degree.
  • Assessment takes place through a variety of measures including exams, practical work and on-the-job training.
  • Provides progression to study at Masters level or entry to Teacher Training programmes.
