Duration: Two Year Course
Develop your performing skills and practical experience in the performing arts on this two-year course.
You will develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required for success in the performing arts industry or for progression to Performing Arts courses at university level.
This course combines theory and practical experience to give you a springboard towards achieving your goals.
This qualification is made up of 18 units which will see you gain experience in a wide range of acting and dance skills and techniques. There are two pathways: Acting and Dance.
Devising, scriptwriting, directing, contemporary and classical acting techniques, performance skills, voice, improvisation, history of theatre, playwrights, storytelling as performance, physical theatre, movement skills and preparing for auditions.
Contemporary dance, ballet, jazz dance, tap dance, performing skills, fitness and body maintenance, dance history, performing arts business and preparing for auditions.
How Will I Be Taught and Assessed?
You will be taught through practical workshops and discussions. Assessment is mainly based on practical exploration but there is also an element of theory in each of the units; coursework assignments and major projects will be externally assessed.

What Could I Do Next?
Successful completion of two years study will be recognised with a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (acting or dance). This is equivalent to three A-Levels and will offer you the possibility of entrance to further study at university or specialist vocational colleges and academies. You could also use your qualification for entry into the entertainment industry and allied sectors.
Former student success
Previous students have gone on to develop careers in the performing arts industries. Others have progressed to higher-level study of dance, acting and performing arts-related subjects at universities and vocational colleges around the country.
General Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs (minimum) Grade C/4 or above including English Language or Maths. If you achieve English at a grade C/4, your Maths grade must be a D/3 and vice versa.
Students will be accepted with Level 2 BTEC Diploma (or equivalent) at Merit Level and English Language or Maths at Level C/4.
Specific Entry Requirements
You will need to attend an audition as part of the interview process.
