I studied at the University of Kent at Canterbury and gained a BA(Hons) in Development Studies (Economics)

After University I worked for UNICEF UK in London and Essex and then with a group of volunteers established the Canvey Island Youth Project where I have work for the last 20 years.

Canvey Youth Project works with young people between the ages of 11 and 25 and supports them with advice, information, advocacy and counselling on many issues and problems including homelessness, poverty, mental health, drug and alcohol  and behavioural issues. My role as Manager in a very small charity  means I get to do everything from working with young people, doing the accounts and budgets, HR, Fundraising and Funding applications, monitoring and evaluation, IT, Training and Safeguarding. Which is great as it means no day is ever the same.

I am dyslexic. I am a single parent with three sons aged from 11 to 18."
