Melissa studied Level 3 Travel and Tourism alongside Air Cabin Crew at Seevic, achieving the highest possible grade of D*D*D*. Soon after college Melissa bagged herself a job with a top airline.
The former King John student joined Seevic because of the variety of courses that they offered compared to other Colleges and Sixth Forms. Here is what Melissa had to say about her time at the College…
“I always knew that I wanted to work in aviation and Seevic was offering the course which could help me to get there. I liked the idea that at College there was more freedom than at a Sixth Form however still with all the help I would need.
“Without the constant help and support I would never have been able to achieve my final grade nor even manage to get an interview, let alone a job, in aviation.
“From the moment I joined the College to even now after I have left both of my Tutors regularly contact me to see how things are going and if there is anything they can help with. All the Tutors are very encouraging and even though we have all been through low points they manage to pick you right back up.
“Seevic helped me more than anything in getting my job. The course was fully suited to the role I was interested in, and the Tutors had previous experience where they were able to advise, prepare and encourage me. I knew everything I could about the job I was going for and there were no shockers when I began to work.
“The College even took us on a trip to an airline training ground to give us a real insight as to what would be involved.
“Not only did my Tutors help me with College work but they ensured I had a strong CV, cover letter and even helped with interview technique to give me an advantage in the recruitment process.
“Don’t worry - College isn’t all work! My favourite memory of Seevic was going on a trip to Paris where we had the chance to see the beautiful city, learn about the industry and even visit Disneyland Paris.
“To anyone thinking of coming to Seevic, it is a great stepping stone between school and either a first job or further education. You have more independence than you do at school and are treated like an adult. Seevic provide you with valuable life lessons along with responsibility but they will get you to where you want to be, just always remember what your end goal is!”
