Looked After Children and Care Leavers
We want you to achieve your full potential and do not want anything to get in the way of your success. We are committed to having support ready and available to you, so have put together a support package to ensure your time with us is happy and stress free.
We offer a bursary fund to help all Looked After Children and Care Leavers with the costs of studying, available to students aged 16-18 on the 31 August of the year enrolled. You will be entitled to up to £1,200 per academic year and a £2.70 daily lunch allowance. Payments are based on attendance and will be paid in weekly instalments.
Emotional and Personal Support
A Support Worker who will have an understanding of your needs will be available to support you throughout your studies. They will be on hand to offer you advice and support, and help you with any concerns you may have. They can also liaise with your Social Worker or Support Worker, and other staff in the college, so you are fully supported.
Your Progress Coach will have regular meetings with you to ensure that you are keeping on track with your work and to check that there are no barriers to your learning. Extra academic support is available through our Learning Plus department, as well as your tutors, who will be on hand to give you any extra support that you may need.
Personal Education Plan (PEP)
Every six months you will have your PEP review, which will give you the opportunity to discuss anything you're unsure about or ask for some additional support. During the meeting your Support Worker and Progress Coach will work with you and your Social Worker to set educational targets that will help you achieve.
Life after Seevic
Your Progress Coach will support you with deciding on your next steps after college and will facilitate sessions on employability skills as well as supporting your progression into employment or education.
Our Careers Team are available to give advice on career paths, Apprenticeships, Further/Higher Education and training opportunities.
If you choose to go on to Higher Education, we will support you through choosing the most suitable course at the right university and your UCAS application. If you are successful in getting a place, we will help look at how you can access funding to support your studies by working with the host university.
