Sarah-Jane, previously from the Appleton School, is currently studying a Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design.
She was born with epilepsy and only found out that she had Autism at 15 when she had to go to Great Ormond Street Hospital due to a seizure. Whilst at the hospital, they conducted an IQ test which led them to their diagnosis.
Sarah-Jane struggles with written work, so Learning Plus help by proofreading her work and explaining ways that she could improve.
She says: “I got an E in my GCSE English at school but now I know how to lay things out and understand more, I am now getting A’s in my English work.
“The staff in Learning plus are always there to support you; they are really helpful and kind.
“I feel safe, as everyone in Learning Plus knows me and my conditions. If you ever have any problems they are always there to help you.”
Sarah-Jane is continuing on at Seevic College this September to study the HNC/HND in Art & Design. Once she has completed it she hopes to either work as a Graphic Designer or study a Masters at university.
