Financial Help
Financial Assistance for Students under 19
If you are an EU national under the age of 19 on 31 August 2010 and have lived in the UK for three years, you will not have to pay course fees.
There may be some costs associated with certain courses (e.g. purchase of textbooks/materials) and all students are asked to pay a resource deposit and contribute towards the Student Activities Fund (voluntary).
Prospective students who are over 19, are not an EU national, or have lived outside the EU for most of the last three years, should contact us for more information.
The College has a Welfare Fund, which may be able to help towards the cost of essential equipment or trips. Further details are available during Induction Week.
EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance)
The EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) is a Government initiative to encourage young people aged 16-19 to stay in education. It is available to students whose household annual income is less than £30,810. Students could get between £10 and £30 a week. £100 bonus payments will be made to students who remain on their course and make good progress with their learning. For more details, visit www.direct.gov.uk/ema or call the EMA Student helpline on 0800 121 8989.
