HND Art and Design students at Seevic are staging an exhibition at Focal Point Gallery in Southend this month.
Students from the college in Runnymede Chase, Benfleet, will show their work at the gallery within Southend’s Forum library in Elmer Square from Saturday, June 4 until Saturday, June 11.
Photography, installations and graphics make up part of the students Summer Art and Design exhibition which will officially launch on Saturday, June 4 at 3pm.
This week, the students have been preparing the space and hanging their work ready for the public.
Tad Blower, Programme Area Manager for Creative and Performing Arts, said: “Exhibiting at the Focal Point is a fantastic opportunity for our Higher Education students to showcase their work to a wider audience.
“The students have produced some really engaging fine art and graphic outcomes, and it is great when such an established gallery as the Focal Point recognise the quality of the art and design work being produced at Seevic.
“The Art and Design HND at Seevic is a broad visual arts course that, over two years, prepares students to work effectively within the creative industries. They are a very viable alternative to studying for a degree, and we are lucky to have such experienced and talented lecturers running the course.”
Sharon Byrne, Learning and Engagement Curator for Focal Point Gallery, added: “Where we have this space in its current layout we have utilised the area to show three different exhibitions.
“It is all part of our learning plan where we want to engage young people through workshops.”
The Art and Design course at Seevic sees students learn more about the creative and practical side of art and design.
