Wednesday, 27 January 2016
Throughout 2015 both Catering and Business have been working hard to support local charity, Havens Hospice.
The catering team joined forces with Business Tutors to host a curry and quiz night in honour of Havens Hospice. The event went down a treat and raised £215.16.
The Catering team also placed donation boxes near the tills which contributed £481.61 towards the grand total of £932.77.
Justin Arnold, Catering Manager, said: “I am really proud of all the fundraising work in which my team have completed throughout 2015. However it would not have been possible to raise this amount without the support of other staff members and students.
“Catering shall continue to support the following charities in 2016, ONE Water foundation, Macmillan, Make a Wish foundation. HARP local homeless charity and Havens Hospices.”
Meanwhile business students warmed to Havens Hospice after watching a video of all the great work they do for people within our local community and decided to organise a Festive Fundraiser.
In order to ensure that patients are getting the vital care that they require Havens need to raise £100,000 per week. Donations are a main way in which the charity raises money.
Tara Nugent, Teacher of BTEC Business, helped organise the event along with her Level 3 Business tutor group. The Festive Fundraiser consisted of a raffle, sweet sale and music playing in The Hub.
Staff and students donated goods which could be sold in the raffle. Within the raffle there were three luxury hampers up for grabs; including a pamper hamper, luxury chocolate hamper and sweet treats hamper.
The students organised the event in a short amount time, Tara said: “I was very impressed with the student’s efforts and how they organised the event. It is always heartening to know that students and staff are so generous and supportive especially with a charity so close to home”
Current student Eunice Sterdzi, 16, who is studying BTEC level 3 Extended Diploma in Business, said: “It felt nice knowing that you were helping to make someone’s life easier through doing charity work like this.”
This event was the perfect opportunity to win a wonderful gift as well as helping a local charity to gain the funding and support that they need. Seevic proudly support many charities and are looking forward to new fund raising activities in this New Year.
The next Open Evening is on Tuesday 2 February 2016, 5:30-8pm. Book online for you chance to win two red camp V festival tickets along with a wide variety of alternative prizes.
