Seevic College celebrates opening of The Hub
Wednesday, 22 January 2014
Students, staff, special VIP guests and members of the local community celebrated the opening of The Hub at Seevic College on Tuesday 21 January.
The Hub is a new, large open-plan social space for students and the focal point of a multimillion pound redevelopment project at the College.
The redevelopment project was undertaken throughout 2013 and saw a new curved roof added to the College’s main building, the creation of 26 modernised classrooms and a new Campus restaurant.

Special guest Rebecca Harris MP said: “I was delighted to be invited to this event and when I saw The Hub for the first time it really knocked me sideways – it’s breathtaking. Young people have phenomenal opportunities to do an incredible range of things in life.
"This College offers a fantastic range of courses to help them get there. I’ve always been a supporter of Seevic College and I want everyone in Benfleet to know about the superb opportunities that exist here for local people.”

Seevic College Principal and Chief Executive Nick Spenceley said: “In the year ahead I am looking forward to continued improvements in results and further engagement with the local community, members of whom are with us tonight. It is my intention for Seevic College to become a real community resource for local people.”
Seevic College Student Governor Liam Purnell, 17, added: “New facilities such as The Hub, the Student Restaurant, and modernised classrooms are going to be hugely beneficial to students at the College.
"There was already a warm and friendly environment in place, but following the redevelopment work this is now even more the case.”
