Accountancy apprentice scoops local award nomination

d0zpstlaw3stxfmrch-y6js2gc5izahdmwvo1dxrzcc22An Accountancy Apprentice from Seevic College has been nominated for a prestigious local award in recognition of her outstanding progress at a Thundersley-based Accountancy firm. 

Danni Walker, a trainee Accountant at Mark Stephen Beckford (MSB) & Co Accountants, has been nominated for Apprentice of the Year at the 2013 Castle Point Mayors Awards. 

20-year-old Danni studies AAT Level 4 Accountancy at our Benfleet Campus, alongside her role at the firm who are based in Church Road, Thundersley. She was nominated for the Award, which helps celebrate local business excellence, by her manager at MSB Thorne Smith.

Mr Smith said: “In the three years Danni has been with us she has progressed to a level where she is almost now fully AAT qualified while having gained a wealth of work-based experience. She really has had the best of both worlds with the Apprenticeship scheme.”

"I've moved forward a lot since leaving school." Danni Walker, 20 Danni added: “The best thing about working here has been being part of such a great team where everyone gets on so well. I think I’ve moved forward a lot since leaving school to being where I am now; when I found out I had been nominated for this award I was really delighted.”

Danni, who is one of four shortlisted nominees for the Award, has been invited to attend the Mayor’s Annual Dinner at Runnymede Hall on Saturday 23 March where the winner of Apprentice of the Year will be announced.

In the build up to the ceremony, Danni met Castle Point Mayor Cllr Peter Burch at MSB & Co Accountants’ Church Road office on Wednesday 20 February.

Seevic College offers a wide range of Apprenticeships including AAT Accountancy at Level 2, Level 3 and Level 4.

MSB & Co Accountants has been established for more than 10 years, with three offices located in Thundersley, Canvey Island and Basildon. The firm employs a total of 18 staff, five of whom are following Apprenticeship pathways at Seevic College.

MSB & Co Accountants has also been shortlisted to the final five for the Mayors Business Excellence Award at the Castle Point Mayors Awards.
