We work closely with employers and our partner for degree level courses, University of Hertfordshire, to offer programmes which provide the knowledge, practical skills and experience that you will need to succeed in your chosen field.

What is a Higher National Diploma (HND)?

A HND combines theory and practical work, providing you with the technical skills for your chosen career.

HND qualifications are designed in collaboration with industry, and are highly valued by employers due to their hands-on approach to teaching and learning. Assessment takes place through assignments and practical tasks.

HNDs are approximately equivalent to the first two years of an Honours degree. A HND can be converted (‘topped up’) to an Honours degree with extra study.

What could I do next?

Nationally, almost three-quarters of students go onto further study within six months of completing a HND. Most choose to ‘top up’ to an Honours degree.

Completing a HND will see you earn an average salary of 17% more than those less qualified than you, according to government research.

Assessment takes place through a variety of measures including exams, practical work and on-the-job training.

Foundation Degrees are equivalent to the first two years of an Honours degree. As well as being a qualification in its own right, a Foundation Degree also provides progression to the final year of an Honours degree.

What next?
