Chris Chapman, 21, from Benfleet, is a Finance Analyst Contractor for Shell based in the City of London
Chris achieved a first class degree in Business Management from Anglia Ruskin University, after completing the first two years of his degree at Seevic College.
Why did you choose to study a Higher Education course at Seevic College?
Studying at Seevic meant I didn’t have to move away from home so I could save money and keep my part-time job. It was a natural progression from studying AAT qualifications at the College.
What was the Higher Education learning experience like at Seevic?
I really enjoyed it. We had a close knit group so our lecturers could get to know us – we became a real family unit. My Tutors were always available for feedback and help – I’d always get a response the same day. This isn’t the case at bigger universities, where a Tutor might have over 200 students and a reply can take weeks.
What was it like completing the final year of your degree at university?
The biggest challenge was the change of environment, teaching style and grading style. The chance to meet new people while I did a dissertation was a big bonus though and was definitely worth it.
How does it feel to achieve a first class degree?
It feels fantastic! I’m extremely proud as I’ve had to overcome a number of obstacles to achieve this feat. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the start given to me by my Tutors at Seevic College in the first and second years.
What are your plans for the future?
I'm now working in London for one of the biggest companies in the world. Shell are extremely driven and I am also looking to progress – I want to reach the highest I can within the company while continuing to develop my career.
