Skills to Employment Progression (STEP)
Created for young people who prefer learning through practical experience but may not be fully confident about their next steps, our STEP programme allows them to get into work-based learning and back into education.
Alongside their time at college where they will study Functional Skills in English and Maths (GCSE where appropriate) and NCFE Employability, our students also benefit from a supported work placement for two to five days a week.
A full-time programme of study for those who are ready to take on the challenges of a work placement, students on the course need to be prepared to develop the skills necessary to be successful in the workplace.
With the support of our excellent team, students have a responsibility to critically analyse their skills and recognise any improvements that could be made.
Throughout the programme, students will focus on:
- Employability - interview skills, job searching and writing the best CV
- Developing Maths and English
- Problem solving skills
- Confidence and team building.
At the end of the course, students will be ready for employment or to start an Apprenticeship or further advance their skills and knowledge of a particular sector.
