Seevic College is pleased to be working with Essex County Council to provide Personal Best, a training and volunteering programme linked to the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, leading to a level 1 qualification in Preparation for Event Volunteering.
What is the Personal Best Programme?
Your chance to learn new skills, gain a level 1 qualification in Preparation for Event Volunteering, get support and advice on finding a job and the potential to become a volunteer at the London 2012 Games.
You will study a range of units covering volunteering, health and safety awareness, customer relations, equality and diversity and developing your team and interpersonal skills. These are all skills that can be used in the workplace. You will also get the opportunity to volunteer at local community events.
Participants will be eligible for up to £30 Weekly Education Maintenance Allowance and support will be given towards transport costs.
Why should you join the programme?
- On completion you will get a guaranteed interview to become a London 2012 volunteer
- You will be offered an interview for a place on a level 2 apprenticeship through the Essex Apprenticeship Scheme
- You may have the opportunity to visit one of the London 2012 Olympic sites
- Meet athletes training to take part in the London 2012 Games
Who is the programme for?
- Those who are not in education, training or employment
- Those who do not have a full level 2 qualification or above
- You must be 16-18 years old
- You must be able to demonstrate basic skills in literacy and numeracy
Where and when is the programme delivered?
The programme is delivered over two days a week for a total of ten weeks. The programme will be complete by Christmas 2010.

What is the Personal Best Programme?

- Attend the November 10 introductory session and on successful completion of the Personal Best programme you
will be guaranteed an interview to become a London 2012 Games Maker - On successful completion you will have gained a Level 1 qualification and improved your skills
- You may also have the opportunity to visit one of the 2012 Games sites
Who is the Programme for?
- Anyone in Thurrock who is 18 or older and:
- Is not currently in education, training or employment
- Does not have a full Level 2 qualification or higher
- Is able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills
- Is willing to volunteer
Where and when is the Programme delivered?
- An introductory and assessment session will be held on November 10 2010 at Thameside in Grays, where participants will be signed up for volunteering at the 2012 Games
- The programme will then run two days a week - every Tuesday and Thursday - from January 18 to March 31 2011 in Tilbury and Grays
- You will also need to complete 20 hours of volunteering
