What will I do?
You will look at the principles of teaching including the role of the teacher, teaching and learning approaches, planning and
delivering sessions and assessment.
You do not have to be in a teaching role to do this course, so it is suitable for those who are considering a career in teaching and would appreciate a taster course.
This course is a requirement for new teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector who do not have or who are not currently
studying for a teaching qualification.
Entry requirements
There is no formal entry requirement for the course; however, teachers in the Lifelong Learning Sector are expected to
have a Level 3 qualification in their own teaching subject and Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy. You do not have to be teaching or training already to join the course. Candidates should be over 18.
Assessment
You will be assessed through a number of short essays, micro-teaching and through writing a personal reflective journal.
Progression
You can progress onto the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS) or Diploma in Teaching in the
Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
