What will I do?
In year one you will study the modules: Preparing to Teach, Plan and Enable Learning in the Lifelong Learning Sector;
Enabling Learning and Assessment, Theories and Principles for Planning and Enabling Learning; Assessment using Information and Learning Technologies.
In Year 2 you will study the modules: Curriculum Development for Inclusive Practice; Continuing Personal and Professional Development; Independent Learning Module.
Entry requirements
A minimum of Level 3 (QCF), or equivalent, skills and knowledge of the subject taught, demonstrated either through a recent qualification or through experience. A Level 2 (QCF) Literacy qualification or the employer’s explicit support to enable an individual to achieve Level 2 Literacy within the first year of a part-time DTLLS pathway. Standards Verification UK (SVUK ) produce a list of approved qualifications.
A minimum of Level 2 (QCF) personal skills in Literacy and Numeracy, evidenced through a qualification included in the SVUK ’s list of approved qualifications for Literacy and Numeracy is mandatory to the (post-qualification) Professional Formation process.
Engagement in appropriate professional practice (minimum 150 hours for the duration of the pathway) in an institution in
the Lifelong Learning Sector.
A mentor to support the teacher in their place of work. The mentor should be a specialist in the subject the trainee teaches.
As teachers will have contact with young people under 18 and may have access to vulnerable adults, they will be required to submit details for a Criminal Records Bureau check. Offers of places on the pathway will be conditional on a satisfactory CRB check.
Assessment
Each module will be assessed and you will undergo teaching observations (9 over the 2 years).
Progression
You can progress on to an MA in Education.
