This course will run on a flexible mode of delivery
with a number of key workshops being delivered
on a rolling programme that will be repeated
throughout the course.
It is anticipated that you will come to College to
access these workshops and on weeks where these
specific workshops are not being delivered then your
assessor will be available to meet with you to discuss
your progress.

Full payment required in the first year. Students
working in childcare settings in Essex may receive
assistance from the local authority.

What will I do?

You will be required to complete an individual portfolio of evidence that demonstrates your competence in the workplace and your knowledge and understanding of Early Years care and education.

Key workshops delivered are likely to include areas such as child protection, health and safety, child development and
promoting children’s rights.

This qualification is ideal for candidates planning to take on a more managerial role in a childcare setting. On completion
of the course the candidate will achieve occupational competence for working in an Early Years setting.

Entry requirements

This qualification is suitable for those who have completed NVQ Level 2 or have equivalent qualifications or experience.
It is designed for people who are already working in a childcare or education setting or is willing to undertake substantial
workplace experience in an appropriate setting.

Assessment

This is predominantly by direct observation by a qualified assessor of the candidate in the workplace and also by production of the portfolio.

Progression

Successful completion of this course offers a progression pathway to the Sector Endorsed Foundation Degree in Early Years.
