What will I learn?
Sociology will appeal to students who are interested in social issues. It explores many aspects of social life and provides a framework for understanding different explanations of human behaviour. Sociology is an engaging subject for those students who are interested in how society works and want to work with people.
How will I be taught and assessed?
A variety of teaching methods will be used to engage learners in new concepts and terms and the final assessment will be by exams in January and at the end of the year.
General Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSE's at grade C or above which must include English Language GCSE.
An average point score of 5.0 calculated from all of your GCSE subjects.
A commitment to an additional 4 hours of study per A Level subject per week.
What could I do next?
Sociology combines well with a range of AS/A2 Levels from the fields of arts, languages, humanities or sciences. It is a popular choice at university and is also a suitable subject for courses that lead into social work, nursing or the teaching profession. Other career possibilities include the media, marketing and personnel.
