Media
Level 3, AS/A2 Level - Two-year course
Campus: Seevic Benfleet and New Campus Basildon
What will I learn?
Through a variety of approaches, this subject will enable students to develop their enjoyment of media texts, in addition to developing a framework for critical analysis of their meanings and contexts. Production work is an important component of Media Studies in both years (AS and A2). The purpose of production work is for students to put theory into practice, by demonstrating knowledge and understanding of technical skills in their own media productions.
How will I be taught and assessed?
Assessment is based on coursework and written examination throughout the year.
General Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSE's at grade C or above which must include English Language GCSE.
An average point score of 5.0 calculated from all of your GCSE subjects.
A commitment to an additional 4 hours of study per A Level subject per week.
What could I do next?
Media Studies provides an excellent foundation for further study in media-related courses in higher education, and for a range of related subject areas in the arts and humanities. Both the AS and A2 Levels offer opportunities for a satisfying and coherent course of study on their own. The ability to think critically about the media is an important life skill for the modern citizen.
