Level 3, AS/A2 Level - Two-year course

Campus: Seevic Benfleet and New Campus Basildon

What will I learn?
Students will learn how Law is made and interpreted, the alternatives to Civil Courts, the differences between barristers and solicitors, the role of magistrates and juries and basic Criminal and Personal Injury Law. Year two includes the differences between murder and manslaughter, general defences, the difference between theft, robbery and burglary and the relationship between Law and morals or justice.

How will I be taught and assessed?
Students will concentrate on classroom learning with practical application of the Law to problemscenarios. Assessment is through written exams in January and May/June each year.

Specific entry requirements
C or above in GCSE Law (if taken).

General Entry Requirements
At least 5 GCSE's at grade C or above which must include English Language GCSE.
An average point score of 5.0 calculated from all of your GCSE subjects.
A commitment to an additional 4 hours of study per A Level subject per week.

What could I do next?
Law is useful for careers in banking, insurance, media, the police, civil service, management and administration, and the legal profession.
