Sponsored walk for Acres Way Kennels
Essential Skills students raise money for ‘Friends of Acres Way Kennels’
Essential Skills students at Seevic College have taken part in a sponsored walk to raise money for the Acres Way Kennels in Thundersley. The walk took part between Old Leigh and Chalkwell beach, spanning the distance of roughly one mile. The students’ challenge was to walk the one mile stretch as many times as they could and were sponsored for each length that they completed.
Essential Skills Tutor, Mandy Brown, said: “Some students walked in excess of 20 lengths, which is amazing!”
The students were well supported by friends and family, raising over £850.46. This money will help the owner of Acres Way Kennels, Sue Clarkson, reach her target of £5,000 needed to register her charity, Friends of Acres Way Kennels.
The students regularly help out at the kennels as part of their Essential Skills course. Three students who participated in the sponsored walk, Martin Staddon, Matthew Seadon and Sean Feeney, said: “We enjoyed being out in the sunshine and raising money for the kennels.”
