Students head for National Championships

Sporting students have made an impressive start in qualifying for the British Colleges National Championships to be held at Loughborough University in April.  Over fifty students have already qualified for the finals with eight qualifying events still to go.

SEEVIC College has recently qualified in both the Men’s and Women’s Rugby 10’s, both Men’s and Women’s Trampoline teams qualified, and there was no surprise when the College’s notoriously strong cross-country squads also made it a double with both the Men’s and Women’s teams qualifying as well.

In Tennis, Faye Watts won the Women’s Singles Competition for the second year running and will look to go one better than the silver medal she picked up at last year’s National Championships. The Women’s Golf tournament saw a 2nd place finish for Frankie Taylor and a 4th place finish for Amy Parrish, and as a result both girls will go forward as part of the Eastern Region golf team at the National Championships.

On the qualifying success already achieved this year, Head of Competitive Sport at SEEVIC College, Craig Davidson said, “Once again SEEVIC College has dominated the qualifying events to the National Championships in the Eastern Region.  I must also praise the commitment and expertise of the coaching staff that have done an excellent job in preparing our students for competition.

"We have a first class sports programme here at SEEVIC College which ensures that we turn out quality performances year in year out against the best in the country, and this year so far has been no exception, I just hope these students can go on to do well at the National Championships and compete with the best in the country”
