Monty the Essex Police Puppy Returns to SEEVIC
Cornelius Year 10 students welcome Monty
Monty, the Essex Police puppy, returned to SEEVIC College recently to meet some Year 10 Students from the Cornelius Vermuyden School.
Monty was bought by Essex Police after SEEVIC College students donated monies raised during their annual Charity Week celebrations in December 2009.
Monty, now 8 months old, has been training since January to become a working police dog and help make the streets of Essex safer. Training has included socialising with other dogs, initial stages of tracking, building searches and recall, where you get the dog to respond by coming back after calling their name.
Terry Collinson, Essex Police Dog Trainer says of Monty “he is strong willed, feisty and his drive is really high. He’s not the biggest puppy in the class but he makes up for it with enthusiasm. We are very confident that he will get through the training and become a fully operational Police dog.”
