Michaella runs for the Young Essex Assembly
BTEC Sport and Exercise Science student, Michaella Philpot, 16, from Benfleet, is running for the Young Essex Assembly to represent Castle Point along with four other young people. Michaella is one of seven candidates hoping to be elected and there are five seats available on the panel, so she is encouraging young people to vote for her.
Michaella is currently a member of the Rochford District Young Council and is passionate about voicing young peoples’ concerns.
She says, “I am actively involved in my local community and sit on a local youth council. I am passionate about giving a voice to all young people in the local area and I am enthusiastic about making a difference.”
Voters have to be aged between eleven and nineteen. Voting starts on Monday 29 November and runs until Sunday 12 December. When young people vote they will be asked to complete a short online survey allowing them to raise any key issues that they may have.
Those elected will be broken down into groups to work on the issues raised from the online survey. Last year issues raised included anti-bullying, crime and feeling safe, and road safety, to name a few.
Seevic College wishes Michaella the best of luck with the election process. To vote for candidates running to be elected on to the Young Essex Assembly, go to www.mi-vote.com and follow the instructions. Voters will need a Unique Voter Code, which they can get from their school or college.
