SEEVIC celebrates exam success

100% pass rate for all BTEC National Courses

Students at SEEVIC College have been celebrating their exam successes and the champagne was flowing as large numbers of students gained their chosen places at universities across the country.

538 students achieved 100% A Level pass rates, this is an increase from 406 in 2007/08 and students achieved 210 A grades for A Levels.

A level students

There was a 100% pass rate for all BTEC National Courses  (Awards/Certificates/Diplomas) and 83 students achieved a triple distinction which is an outstanding achievement that is equivalent to 3 A’s at A level.
 
22 Level subjects achieved a 100% pass rate in the following subjects: Applied Science, Art & Design: Fine Art, Art & Design: Graphics, Art & Design: Photography, Art & Design: Textiles, Business Studies, Chemistry, Dance, Design and Technology, English Language, Film Studies, French, Geology, German, Government & Politics, Human Biology, Maths Further, Maths Double, Media Studies, Music Technology, Religious Studies and Spanish. The overall pass rate for all students at A Level was 97.2%

Geoff Arnott, Principal & Chief Executive, said: "This results day is a cause for celebration at SEEVIC College. Hundreds of students have received their results today, and many students will have exceeded their expectations. I wish them every success at university and in their chosen careers. At A level 22 subjects achieved 100% pass rates and all BTEC students have passed, many with outstanding grades."

Individual student success (A2):

Robert Brown, 18, from Hockley achieved 3 A grade's in Maths, History and General Studies and a B in Economics. He will be going on to study Economics at Sussex University and has ambitions to have a career in politics. Robert said: "For those thinking of coming to SEEVIC College I would advise them to do it, but just know that you have to work hard."

Zoe Leak, 18, from Prittlewell achieved 3 A grade's in Sociology, Law and Psychology. She is planning to go onto Liverpool University to study Law and wants to become a solicitor. Zoe said: "College has been absolutely fab, but you have to work hard. I think my results are awesome. I’m so pleased."

Brooke Thomas, 18, from Rayleigh achieved 3 A grade's in English Language and Literature, Psychology and Philosophy and a B grade in Drama and Theatre Studies. She is now going to Royal Holloway University of London to study English Literature. Brooke said: "I'm extremely excited that I achieved the results I needed. College life has lived up to my expectations and the excellent staff have supported me through my illness as I have recently been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. SEEVIC College is a great place to improve yourself if you keep up with your work."

Ryan Morley, 18, from South Woodham Ferrers achieved an A grade in Sociology and 2 B grade's in English Literature and Psychology. Ryan said: "I'm going to the University of East Anglia to study Psychology to find out why people do the things they do. I have enjoyed every second of my time at SEEVIC College and I would advise all new students to the same."
