SEEVIC College were among more than 20 organisations to attend the Your Future 09’ event at Basildon’s Towngate Theatre organised by Basildon Council and Basildon Renaissance.

The Your Future 09’ event was for 16-24 year olds from the Basildon District looking for some direction and careers guidance. It focused on seminars and skills sessions in areas such as CV writing and interview techniques for those who are not in education, employment or training.

Many exhibitors attended the event including Connexions, Job Centre Plus, the Army, local college’s and training providers. All were on hand to offer advice about jobs and future career prospects.

Celebrity motivational speaker, James Cracknell, also attended the event to help encourage and inspire the young people with stories of his own success. James Cracknell is one of Britain’s most successful athletes of all time, with two Olympic Golds and six World Championship titles. His Olympic rowing finals - in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004 - have gone down in history as two of the most watched sporting contests.

It was a very successful event and SEEVIC College gave advice to over 200 people. Some even signed up to start a College course/training programme.
