American Learning Coach comes to SEEVIC

Learning Coach

Learning skills enhanced by Yoga

SEEVIC College students were visited by an American Learning Performance Trainer to teach them new and innovative ways to improve their learning skills, which even included Yoga.

Learning Coach with students

Eric O'Halleran, from the Learning Performance Group, came to the College and ran two interactive study skills workshops teaching 80 students about how the brain works, how to understand and memorise complex topics and other very useful strategies.

Students also took part in story writing activities that linked key information, goal setting, mind mapping and a range of discussions.

The sessions were a great success and the students very much enjoyed learning new revision techniques. After completing the workshop students
were asked to leave feedback on a comment wall, one of the students wrote: “I highly recommend this session to everyone. It's involving, entertaining and relevant. It involved useful facts and great examples. It made me want to go and start revising with these methods!!! Eric was great and nice to listen to.”

Eric said: “My advice to the students is to decide what they want in life (big things and little) and use that to motivate themselves. If they believe they can do something and are willing to put in the work your students have all that it takes to achieve big things.”

Andrew Westoby, Head of Marketing and Communications at the College said: “These very engaging workshops took place as part of Diversity Week at the College, which also involved disability awareness, relaxation classes, free food samples and a themed menu incorporating foods from different countries around the world.”
