Access to Higher Education
Ed Painter, 25 from Hockley, is currently studying the Access to Higher Education Humanities & Social Science pathway.
He says: "I always wanted to get into journalism but I got a job offer to become a chef when I was younger and things were going well so I decided to stick with it.
"I still thought about becoming a journalist though and finally got to a point where I thought if I don’t do it now it will be too late, so I emailed universities asking them what I would need to do to become a journalist and was advised to study the Access to Higher Education course.
"I really like the atmosphere of the classes at Seevic. I’m not the most academic but it’s really encouraging and I feel comfortable achieving.
"The tutors are very helpful and approachable; if I don’t understand anything they are on hand to explain it to me.
"I chose to study at Seevic as it felt right; if you’re spending a year somewhere you’ve got to be comfortable with your surroundings."
After Ed has completed his Access course he is looking to go to university to study journalism.
