Seevic College Celebrates A* Exam Success

Seevic College students have been celebrating their exam success after receiving their A Level results in August 2011.

Students picked up the College’s best-ever A Level results, with an overall pass rate of 97.2%. This is a 2% improvement on the 2010 results.

There was a 100% pass rate for 23 subjects, including English Literature, English Language, Applied Science, Human Biology, Languages and Art and Design courses.

92.8% of students achieved 100% A Level pass rate, with a total of 34 A* grades.

Following this success, the College is extending A Level provision in the Basildon area at the New Campus Basildon sites from September 2012. Subjects on offer will include A Levels in English, Media, Law, IT and Psychology, alongside BTEC Diplomas and Apprenticeship Programmes.

Sarah Wright, Principal & Chief Executive of the College, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating with staff and students today, and I’m delighted with this year’s pass rate. So many of our students clearly have a bright future ahead of them and I wish them all the best of luck”
 

Nicholas Wilkins,  from Wickford, achieved A* grades in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry and is now heading to Cambridge University to study Mathematics.

He said: “I really enjoyed my time at Seevic. The teaching is really good – supportive but not over bearing. It’s just right and I’m really happy with my results!”

Natalie Smith, 18, South Benfleet, also had something to smile about after gaining As in Maths and PE and a B in Human Biology.

She said: “I felt relieved and so happy when I picked up the envelope my heart was pounding. I won’t be able to stop smiling all day!” Natalie is going to Brighton University to study PE in the hope of becoming a PE teacher in the future.
 

William Hale picked up three As and one B and is now going to Southampton University, with dreams of one day being a Research Chemist. He said: “The teaching was brilliant. I love it here and I don’t want to leave!”
