You will have access to top facilities, a five day per week training programme and compete in the highest level national and regional competitions. 

Our detailed, positional-specific, training programme will enable you to develop your technical, tactical, mental and physical attributes, providing you with the tools to reach your potential.

We require all our students to have both a high commitment towards rugby and also towards their studies at the College. We work very closely with teaching staff to ensure our rugby players are performing well in lessons. As part of Seevic Storm Rugby you will be a student athlete, with your education as much of a priority as sport.

Rugby -danny -clear -web

Danny Cleare, Director of Rugby

Danny Cleare is Director of Rugby and Backs Coach at Seevic College. He is also a Teacher on the BTEC Sport programme. Danny has played rugby for Essex, Saracens Academy, Northampton Academy and Bedford U18’s . He currently play for Southend RFC First Team in the National League. He is also a Level 1 coach working towards a Level 2 and has SAQ Level 1. He has coached at the College for five years.

Rugby -chris -green -webChris Green, Head Coach

Chris Green is Head Coach of the Seevic Storm Rugby Academy. He has played for Bedford University, Yorkshire and Southend - where he has played for the last decade. In addition to playing, he is also Head Coach and Director of Rugby at Southend RFC. Chris has previously worked for the RFU as a Youth Development Coach, has coached Essex teams and also run his own multi-sports coaching company.

Rugby -harry -hudson -webHarry Hudson, Forwards Coach

Harry Hudson is Forwards Coach for Seevic Storm Rugby, and is also in charge of video analysis. Harry played at Seevic College for three years and was captain for two. During that period Seevic won the Essex Cup, Regional Elite League and Regional 10’s, as well as winning silver in the National 10’s and coming runner up in the Elite League Playoff. He has played for England Colleges, Essex and now currently plays for Southend RFC. He joined the coaching team at Seevic College in 2012.

Rugby -mark -williamsMark Williams, Strength & Conditioning Coach

Mark Williams is Strength & Conditioning Coach at Seevic College. He also delivers some Forward-orientated sessions, in particular working with the Front Row. Mark studied BSc Sports Science at St Mary's University and is a UKSCA accredited coach and NSCA Strength & Conditioning Specialist. He is also currently working towards a Masters Degree in Strength & Conditioning. Mark has played rugby for Bracknell and Southend RFC in the National Leagues and is now the Team Manager and Strength & Conditioning Coach at Southend RFC. He is also Strength & Conditioning Coach and Consultant for Southend Football Club.

Sport -leah -doyle -webLeah Doyle, Sports Rehabilitator (GSR)

Leah Doyle is the Sports Rehabilitator (GSR) for Seevic Storm Rugby. She is present at all fixtures and available for First Aid treatment plus injury management advice. Leah is also a Sports Lecturer and a Curriculum Area Manager at the College. She has been part of the Sports department at Seevic for six years.

Rugby Success Stories

In the recent years the Seevic Storm Rugby Academy has produced some outstanding rugby players, who have left Seevic College with a high standard of education and gone on to play rugby at a good level. More than 20 current and former students play for Southend RFC at National League level.

Josh Rasor

Josh studied BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science at Seevic as well as playing in the Rugby Academy. Through rugby Josh has secured a place at Bath University to study Sport Performance. The talented Prop has also secured a place in the Elite Squad where he will have the chance to play in the first team in the BUCs League.

Joe Vandermolen

Joe Vandermolen plays for Bedford RFC in the Championship, having previously played at Southend RFC at National League level. He has also played County-level rugby and been involved in the England Colleges team. Having enrolled at Seevic College to study a BTEC Level 3 Sport programme, he is now studying a degree in Sports Science at university.

Todd Bailey

Todd Bailey is a former Seevic College student currently playing for Southend RFC in the National Leagues where he is a First Team regular. Todd achieved high grades on the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science programme and progressed on to the University of Hertfordshire to study a Sport Science Degree.

Harry Branch

Former Seevic College student Harry Branch has played First Team rugby at Southend RFC in the National Leagues and is currently playing abroad in Australia. Harry studied BTEC Sport Science at the College and is now working as a Manager in a family run Construction Company.

Southend RFC first team player, Hayden Smith completed A-Level Business and Physical Education at Seevic before heading off to St Mary's University to study Business Management. Hayden said: "Seevic gave me the opportunity to play national league rugby for Southend RFC and train closely with the Coaches."
